Coupons, coupons, coupons! ABC News reports that a Massachusetts Mom feeds family of 6 on about $4 a week

Couponing works. I know this to be true because I’ve saved over $1000 since February because of my clipping skills. I pretty much do what this Massachusetts mom does, which is

  1. Look through the local store circulars for the items I want or need that week
  2. Print free coupons from the Web (Coupons.com is a great site)
  3. Stockpile items on sale (I can’t remember the last time I had to buy toothpaste, detergent, cereal, or SoftSoap.)
  4. Only buy if I have a coupon

What I haven’t done is ask the store if they will double my coupons. Guess asking never hurt. :) I did found out just a few weeks ago that Albertson’s grocery stores offer $0.05 for every recycling bag you use to pack your items instead of the plastic ones. So that saves me at least 10-15 cents each trip. Hey, every little bit counts!
