Consistency is a single parent’s best friend

My ex-husband has been out of town on business this week, which means that we haven’t had to move our son from home to home. In a word, it’s been SOOO nice. Trey and I have been able to establish a consistent routine.

In the morning, we eat a healthy breakfast, clear the table, do a chore or two, and then get ready to leave the house. We find our way to the park for some fun time and then back to the house for some quality time together. This weekend, we visited the library (which we used to do a lot more), taught Sunday School, and did laundry together.

To all the new parents out there, take your time with your mini-mes. Be consistent with how you show them love, and establish a schedule that’s not rushed. Love your kiddos with all your heart, take time out to laugh about the silliest thing, and more than anything else . . . be consistent!
