My 7-year-old son can help our country get out of debt

I mentioned in a previous blog that I’m going through Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University. What that means for my son is that he listens to Dave Ramsey both in the car and then via Tivo when we get home. :)

I was sitting on the sofa and had just taken out my KOHL’s charge card so that I could call and close my account. My son walks by, takes one look at the card and says, “Ooooh, Mommy . . . you need to cut that up!” :)

That made me smile and laugh at the same time! I’m such the proud Mom!

If he can hold on to that way of thinking when it comes to charge cards, he’s in for a very successful financial future. Amen.

Barack Obama is the 44th President of the United States of America

Yes, folks. The day has come. Barack Obama is now the new leader of the free world, having been sworn in earlier today.

Besides his practical and real demeanor, I love the fact that he is a family man first. The above is one of my favorite photos of the Obama family. May God bless and protect them as they step into a role not taken on by many.

Bucket List Update

I'm proud to say that as of today, I can cross the following off my list:

#1, 11, and 18. We’re rocking and rollin,’ baby! Praise God!

I hit a new high in my work-out routine!

Oh my gosh! This was SO good I just had to share.

I was at the gym early this morning with my work-out buddy and was asked to push myself a little. Now usually, I lift 25-35 pounds on each side when doing the bench press. But today . . . I lifted a 45-pound plate x 2. That’s 135 pounds!

Feeling pretty good about my physical goals in 2009. :)

Don’t tell anyone, but I still have Christmas decorations up inside my house

Sad but true. I actually want to take advantage of my time and energy today and pack up the remaining decorations, but we’ll see where I land. :)

I’ve seen so many of their ads and was curious to see if anyone had insider info. Has anyone ever tried this online dating service? Have friends who have? What’s been the result, good or bad?

Dave Ramsey, the New Year, and Bringing Up Boys

With a new year comes New Year’s resolutions! In 2009, I plan to work hard at paying off the remainder of my consumer debt using Dave Ramsey’s Total Money Makeover as my inspiration.

As far as other areas of my life, I listed out 6 key groups:

1. Financial—work Dave Ramsey’s Baby Step #2

2. Personal – become more disciplined, go out on a few dates

3. Family – be the best mom I can be (currently reading Dr. James Dobson’s Bringing Up Boys. 

4. Professional—drive for results and earn a promotion/increase in salary

5. Spiritual—ask for wisdom, daily talks with the Lord throughout my day, listen/look with my spiritual eyes and ears

6. Physical—stay physically fit, eat healthy, work out 4-5 days a week

2009 is going to be FANTASTIC!!!!
